What can I use to make the frame for a cancer ribbon balloon sculpture?

Cancer Ribbon Balloon Sculpture

Cancer Ribbon Balloon Sculpture

I'm trying to create a 10 foot ribbon for the Relay For Life cancer fundraiser and am not sure what the best material for the frame would be.

ANSWER:

For a tall, free standing sculpture like the one you have in mind you should at least use 1/2" aluminium rod. If you want to give it extra sturdiness, consider using 1/2" PVC conduit.

For some great tips how to work with PVC conduit, please check out the comments on this FAQ page about heart shaped balloon decorations.

Good luck with your cancer ribbon decoration!
